Brighton's only surviving foundry was about to be demolished to make way for yet another car park. A foundry since the beginning of the twentieth century, it was a coachworks and before that part of a farm. Some of the farm buildings can still be seen behind Boots at the Clocktower.

The British Video Unit Trust enabled this record to be made of the work of this unique industrial site in the heart of Brighton.

Cast Aside was shown at the National Film Theatre in 1991.
